Lust is the Thorn by Jen McLaughlin #coverreveal

LITT_Cover

Today we are revealing the cover for LUST IS THE THORN by Jen McLaughlin. This book is being released by Random House on April 19th, 2016. Check out the fantastic blurb below.

Lust is the Thorn_McLaughlin

BOOK BLURB:

From the bestselling author of Bad Romance (“A sexy, emotional, steamy read.”—Addison Moore) comes an edgy novel about a reformed bad boy training to be a priest and the fallen angel who makes him think twice about giving up earthly pleasures.

Growing up hard and fast on the mean streets of Chicago, Thorn McKinney didn’t have a prayer—until tragedy inspired him to join the seminary. Now the time has come to take his vows, and yet he’s haunted by the woman he can’t leave behind: his best friend’s little sister. Despite Thorn’s promises that he’d keep her safe, she’s going through hell. And now he finds himself torn between duty and desire, entranced by the seductive pull of her trusting eyes, innocent heart, and sinfully sweet curves.

Trying to let Thorn pursue his calling, Rose Gallagher has been hiding some things: namely her abusive boyfriend and her job as a stripper. But when she hits rock bottom, Thorn is there for her—and now there’s no denying the raw temptation that draws them together in their darkest moments. Rose may have found salvation in his strong arms, but she knows that Thorn must choose his own path: in the church, or in the warm embrace of a woman’s love.

Blog Tour for Wrapped in Lace by Prescott Lane

LACE2.PNG

Wrapped in Lace.jpg

Synopsis round.jpg

When I was a little boy, the best thing about the holiday season was unwrapping presents on Christmas morning — tearing off the paper and tossing it on the floor. Now that I’m a man, I like to unwrap slowly, deliberately, taking my time to savor what lies before me. I still like to throw the wrapping on the floor, but now I know the best gifts come wrapped in lace.
And unlike when I was a kid, I won’t get sick of this present by New Year’s. I’ll definitely be playing with this girl day after day after day.

After six years avoiding my hometown, the last thing I expected when I returned was a wannabe bad girl to unwrap my heart and rip open my soul. But that’s exactly what happened. Now if I can just get the hell out of my own way, maybe I’ll finally get the best gift of all — her!

Come get unwrapped by Drew this holiday.

“There was this guy.”
“OOH, a guy.”
“Shut up,” I said, laughing.  “We flirted and drank all night, and he was so hot and sweet and. . . .”
“You are totally gushing over a boy.  I can’t believe it.”
“I am not,” I protested, but I knew I was.  “I don’t even know his name.”
“Why not?”
“I threw up before we got that far.”
Sabrina fell back on my bed laughing.  “You did not.”
I hid my head back under my pillow.  “I did.”
“Girl, you are hopeless,” she said, still laughing.  “How hot was he?”
I came out from hiding.  “Pretty damn hot.”
“As in you’d shave for him?  That hot?”
“As in I’d wax for him.”
Sabrina started to fan herself, and I got up and headed to my bathroom, looking for some aspirin.  “We’ve got to find this wax-worthy gentleman,” Sabrina called out.

I sat back and studied the canvas. I’d finally gotten it right — the way his lips turn up in that smile that makes both my heart and panties melt. It had taken me over a dozen tries to get it just perfect, but I finally had. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel any better. I thought if I could capture Drew’s smile on my canvas, my pain would somehow lessen. Because I’d always have his image, that his leaving me wouldn’t hurt so bad. It hadn’t worked. The pain in my heart was just as sharp, just as overwhelming as it was yesterday and the day before. I knew I’d never get over him. I knew it like I knew the deep blue color of his eyes, the rough spots on his hands. I knew it like I knew the way his lips tasted, the feel of his thick brown hair.

rating & review:

3 Stars

I like this story but I don't really feel super connected to the characters.  The writing is really well done.  The development is good and the story flows really well.

So I'm just ok on this one, didn't hate it didn't love it and that all comes from not connecting with the characters.  Normally I'm absorbed and obsessed with the characters I'm reading regardless of the genre - I'm just usually pretty emotional about them, but with these characters I just never really got wrapped up and felt like I had to know.  There wasn't anything super annoying or any kind of barrier to me loving or hating them, but I never did.  I always route for one or the other in books like this, but I wasn't invested in this one.

#Spotlight | Rarity from the Hollow by Robert Eggleton

I love the tag on this cover!  "A children's story. For adults." It makes me giggle each time I see it.  Have you read this one, I haven't, let me know what you think in the comments!

Summary ~

Rarity from the Hollow is adult literary science fiction filled with tragedy, comedy and satire. The story includes elements of fantasy, everyday horror, paranormal, romance, mystery, and adventure. The content addresses social issues – poverty, child maltreatment, and the medicinal use of marijuana. This novel is not for the prudish, fainthearted or easily offended.
This is a children’s story for adults. While the protagonist, Lacy Dawn, occupies the body of an eleven year old, and sounds like one, she has evolved under the supervision of Universal Management for hundreds of thousand of years. She is not a typical little girl, and if you think of her as such, you may be shocked.
Lacy Dawn is the true daughter of Appalachia, and then some. She lives in a hollow with her worn-out mom, her Iraq War disabled dad, and her mutt Brownie, a dog who’s very skilled at laying fiber optic cable. Lacy Dawn’s android boyfriend has come to the hollow with a mission. His equipment includes infomercial videos of Earth’s earliest proto-humans from millennia ago. He was sent by the Manager of the Mall on planet Shptiludrp (Shop ’till You Drop): he must recruit Lacy Dawn to save the Universe in exchange for the designation of Earth as a planet which is eligible for continued existence within a universal economic structure that exploits underdeveloped planets for their mineral content. Lacy Dawn’s magic enables her to save the universe, Earth, and, most importantly, her own family.

you can pick up your copy at Amazon, Amazon UK, & Dog Horn Publishing

About the Author ~

Robert Eggleton has served as a children's advocate in an impoverished state for over forty years. He is best known for his investigative reports about children’s programs, most of which were published by the West Virginia Supreme Court where he worked from 1982 through 1997, and which also included publication of models of serving disadvantaged and homeless children in the community instead of in large institutions, research into foster care drift involving children bouncing from one home to the next -- never finding a permanent loving family, and statistical reports on the occurrence and correlates of child abuse and delinquency. Today, he is a recently retired children's psychotherapist from the mental health center in Charleston, West Virginia, where he specialized in helping victims cope with and overcome physical and sexual abuse, and other mental health concerns. Rarity from the Hollow is his debut novel and its release followed publication of three short Lacy Dawn Adventures in magazines: Wingspan Quarterly, Beyond Centauri, and Atomjack Science Fiction. Author proceeds have been donated to a child abuse prevention program operated by Children’s Home Society of West Virginia. http://www.childhswv.org/ Robert continues to write fiction with new adventures based on a protagonist that is a composite character of children that he met when delivering group therapy services. The overall theme of his stories remains victimization to empowerment.
